Reviews for Ripper, My Love
Healthy Writing
Writing your novel is a job or a hobby, whatever it is, don't make it stressful. Giving yourself some quality time will reflect in your written word.
When you write, relax and get up and move around in between paragraphs or chapters. The blood flow stimulates the brain and walking around will prevent thrombosis in your legs. When travelling by plane we all ensure we protect our legs from thrombosis.
We rotate our ankles and stretch our legs, so why do we forget that sitting for several hours while writing is any different? Thrombosis danger time is two.
While you are sitting writing, rotate your ankles keep the flow going and make sure you are active after each hour.
Rocking back and forth on our butt while typing can lead to a form of sciatica. Ensure you release your pelvis regularly.
Get up and make a drink, go for a walk; anything just stretch those legs. The oxygen in your lungs will help the blood flow to your brain, and a different environment can stimulate new ideas. Do a few body stretches and massage your fingers and wrists, this helps stop inflamation forming. You do need those hands!
Arms and shoulders suffer while leaning over notepads or computer. Rotate your head side to side and raise your arms to the sky. Stretch and wave them around. Pretend you are a tree! Laughter is good for oxygen intake.
This will help release tension in the shoulders and neck muscles.
Ensure you get plenty of fluids, have water between the coffee, eat good foods for brain stimulation don't just snack on junk food.
The herb Rosemary is a brain stimulant, have some near you when you write, the fragrance will help you keep the ideas coming.
If you are stressing, have some Lavender close by, it can help calm you down.
Following those few simple rules will benefit you and your writing in the long term.

A much-needed post, Glynis! Thank you!
(No idea what account I'm signed into - we shall see!)
LOL, Talli your friend Marsha wants to know how your aching butt is! ;0
Oh this post is very informative, Glynis! Thank you so much! And rosemary? Did you mean fresh rosemary leaves? I will find out where to get these from. x
Hi, Len.
Yes fresh Rosemary. I have a garden full. I collect that and Lavender. I like the combination of calm and brain stimulation. It smells good. :)
Good reminder, thanks. Now I just need to increase my attention span so I focus on my novel long enough to be at risk, so I can try them :)
LOL, I know that feeling, Charmaine!
Thanks for visiting.
Oh, this is SO delightful!
There was a time when I sat for long stretches. Can't do this anymore. Bad for all parts of the body!!
You said on my post your son is a frog specialist. How intriguing! I never thought of such a thing!! I learn so much from you, & other bloggers!!!
Happy Green Monday!! Happy Sunday!!
Thanks, Ann. Glad you enjoyed the post.
Yes, my son is a Zoologist/Biologist/Herpetologist. His speciality is the poison frog. He works in Vancouver Aquarium.
I love how we all learn from each other. Thanks for visiting me today. And take care of those stiff bones. x
Great advice Glynis.
Often we start a hobby or activity for fun and relaxation and it turns into a stressful job :-(
We need to take it easy and live a balanced lifestyle. Life is to short to be stressed out all the time.
Take care and have a great week :-)

My wife sears by lavender. I like the scent myself. Aroma therapy can work. I like the smell of pumpkin bread in the oven. I think its one of the most wonderful scents in the world.
Ron, it is so easy to get stressed over something that should be a pleasure. You should hear DH during his soccer team matches! ;0
Stephen, now you have made me hungry! Lavender helps DH stop snoring, I love it! ;0
Thank you both for dropping by, and have a great week.
Very smart post. Sometimes having ADHD is a blessing -- the breaks come usually uninvited.
I had no idea about the Rosemary - Perhaps a large bush in the corner...
The apple is too cute.
Great little pep talk. It's too easy to forget these things. Thanks for sharing it.
glynis,
thank you for all these wonderful suggestions, i lovelove them!!! esp the rosemary and lavender -- i'm a big believer in having scent as a creative stimulus~
Mary, I think the apple is fun too! LOL, not sure about a bush in the corner. I just have a small bunch. Thanks for dropping by today. ♥
Jakill, thank you for reading and visiting me today. Glad you enjoyed it. :)
Amanda, you are welcome. I am a lover of the essential oils. Thanks for visiting today. ♥
Excellent advice, esp for me who doesn't do any of that - and needs to!
Thanks, Helen. I hope you get around to it. ;0
Good advice. I don't stress over my writing, but I find I have gained weight from just sitting at the computer too much. I need to get up and walk more.
Janet, it is amazing how many hours tick by while I sit. The weight needs to come off this year!
