Getting Things Done

Today I set aside to do some more research for my book, I have finished writing the poem for reciting at my son's wedding in September and felt that I would dedicate the day to my book.

I was helped by the weather, we had precious rain so I stayed indoors and watched the vineyards soaking up the gift, I was not tempted to step outside.

At the start of planning and writing my novel, I had made a list of all places to look for information and have gradually graded them for quick reference.

I have given them 1 to 20, with 1 being the most relevant to the topic.

Doing this I have found that if my time is short, I can go to the list and not waste time browsing notes hoping to find a web address or the name of a book.

So far it has worked well for me and was very useful today. Our Internet connection is being hampered by a failing modem, the broadband supplier is providing a new one tomorrow but my research online was hampered by being cut off at 2 minute intervals that progressed to 10 at a time.
I gave up working online and decided to work through my list and see if the grading was still in order of relevance, I am further along in the book and am researching different things now. I did find that two items who origionally started at the top of the list, could be moved down and others leapfrogged them, I also added new ones and removed weak links.
Having a new fresh list gave me a little more enthusiasm, a bit like a nice tidy desk, you want to sit and write.
My achievement today was another chapter and a few add in pieces to previous ones (bulking out as I like to call it).
So a day well spent, despite little ten minute set backs.
