I have been emailed by a few supporters recently, pointing out that I have not written much about my WiP. I have not given you the base of the storyline or the title. Those who emailed are so supportive, they wanted me to know I am missing out on pre-marketing chances and I thanked them and explained my reason. I have shared a snippet of my reply with you below.
Well the truth is, if I do just the title gives it all away, and it would also leave me open for someone to take the idea. It is based around a true story. When I am secure enough to know it is finished and I am being published or self publishing, I will share more with you. My mentor Louie feels that I am doing the right thing. I am just sharing little descriptive pieces but not giving much away.
To make up for the fact I am keeping you in the dark,I would like to introduce you to a couple of my characters.
James Lockwood is a leading male and Kitty Harper is my POV.

Ioan Gruffudd and Romola Garai from the Amazing Grace movie are fairly close to who I think of when writing. The difference is that Kitty has brown eyes and slightly more petite and James is a little larger in build. A little bit of Mr Darcy (Colin Firth).

There is another male involved, Arthur Twigg he is not a tall, dark handsome male and knows it. He carries a chip on his shoulder and is a little shabby.
He is a cross between the British politician Charles Kennedy and Prince Harry. If I could find something between the two in age, I think I will have someone to work with.

Charles Kennedy

Prince Harry
In this video snippet of the movie Amazing Grace, there is a moment when the young couple are walking in a garden. This is an image of my young couple, in my mind.
As I come across more character images I will share them with you.

This was interesting. The only fiction book I've ever come close to finishing is one for what would now be called tweens, and the characters were really easy to figure out. Some day I really should dig that up and finish it.
A cross between Prince Harry and Charles Kennedy? Oh dear! Must have Harry's hair and Charles chubby face, I think. LOL
I wouldn't worry about anyone stealing your ideas. Even if they did, what they produced would be extremely different than what you produce.
Ideas are a dime a dozen. It's the execution that makes them dazzle.
Now you have me salivating over a book I have to WAIT for Glynis!!
Shame on you!HA! Sounds like one I will devour! :)
I loved seeing this - I am using things like this for the first time, working on my mystery novel characters and find that it really helps. Sometimes it makes them easier to visualize and imagine, with the help of a few YouTube clips! :)
I'm really enjoying your blog, came via Adgitize...
That's really cool. And I love that movie Amazing Grace. :)
Looks like it's going to be fabulous! That is exactly the same reason I've been reluctant to give to much away about my WIP.
Get that book written Joan!
Yes Lizzie not a pretty sight LOL
Marisol, true! I hadn't really thought about that.
Carol, thanks for having faith I will finish it ;)
Lidian, thanks for dropping by and good luck with your novel.
Jennifer and Desiree, thanks for your positive comments.
Wonderful way of describing your characters, Glynis! I cast my characters too. In fact, I have such strong character ideas that I would be a nightmare to a casting agency should my books ever be bought for a movie! Of course, my characters are younger than their "movie star" counterparts, but I can't help who they appear as in my head. Then again, if it was an animated feature, voice acting would work nicely :)
And I don't blame you for not posting your book in more detail. Not that I think serious writers would steal it (the global writing community is good that way), you never know. But M. Dunham is right: it is the execution of an idea that makes it shine! This is something I've struggled with as well and I'm hoping to make my decision about (finally) posting about my trilogy soon!
Happy writing!
From what I see here on your blog your book should be amazing.
Jennifer it is funny how certain people catch your eye, and suddenly you are reminded of a character.
Thanks for encouraging me.
Gramps...thank you for a wonderful compliment.
That would be a great book...and interesting.
Sounds like my kind of book....can't wait for it to be published.......
also in reading some of the older posts, I have to comment that I LOVED Glynis Johns so feel you are very fortunate to be named after her......xxxxxxx
