I always try to turn a negative into a positive in life. This week my laptop power adapter fizzled and exploded. The laptop sits waiting patiently for a new one to arrive from the UK.
My routine is useless, I sit staring at my daily companion and fight DH for an hour on the main PC.
I am now having to write using pen and paper on a daily basis (the negative), however I found I am writing more and have less distractions, I get my blogs updated, facebook my F&F, write my articles and browse a little in the hour window I am graced with, (the positive).
I am following a course run by Usha Krishnan Sliva @ Write Choice For You, I was lucky enough to win the chance to do this course for free (value $149). Not having the distractions has made me realise that I am reading instead of scanning, writing instead of rushing.
When I get my laptop up and running again, I will have a new routine and will have to fit my laptop moments into it. I hope this routine will be a better one for me to follow, I hope my negative event becomes a positive daily routine.
I am amazed how, within a year I have become attached to my laptop, how it changed my writing life. I do know that I must turn it off every now and then inorder to achieve more written work.

I would also like to pay tribute to my old English teacher Roger Key. Roger passed away recently, he was a huge influence in my life. He was the only one who allowed me the freedom of writing my own titles for essays, of writing rhyming words and allowing me to call it poetry, he never made me read 'what real poetry is', like another tutor I had. Roger IS the reason I write the way I do, my way. Thank You and Bless you my valued tutor.

There is always a silver lining to every black cloud, I say. So write away! Remember the great ones did it with pen and paper! :)
I always write with pen and paper first. I know it seems like a waste of time, but I work better that way without the distraction of the internet. I also consider typing it, my first round of revision. Sorry to hear about your teacher.
You make a good point -- I tend to fritter away the very small amount of writing time I have reading silly facts and surfing around.
Sometimes the "old ways" are the best ways...
You have a very very very informative write up keep it up!Do You want to make money online?
I always wrote by hand, but found it easier to type, then found I wrote with more imagination by hand. This 'disaster' has made me realise how much time I waste.
Thanks for commenting, lovely to see you all.
