Meet The Important Ones!

Apostrophes or is that Apostrophie's & Grrrrammar

I hate, loath the world of the Apostrophe. They drive me insane. The Dog's Dinner lesson from the 1960's always comes back and bite me on the ...end of my pencil. No matter how hard I study and take in (for a short period of time, Madam BrainCell cannot cope with too much nowadays), I still find my flow of writing when I reach an apostrophe point in my novel.

I came across this image that made me smile when I stumbled across Bob the Angry Flower's Blog

I often find it a good idea to go back to basics and simplify things for myself. This way I do not fret while writing too much. Places like THIS help me out when I draw a blank.

Then there comes the formatting of dialogue *holds head in hands while banging it slowly on the table*
BubbleCow helps me out.

I am waiting eagerly to improve my grammar with MISSED PERIODS, one of The Important Ones of this blog. She has a book coming out that will help me in times of need.

Oh, and if you feel like clicking please do.

I just finished a grammar class, which helped my grammar immensely.

I love Missed Periods and other Grammar Scares. I will be buying this book for other writers and me!

Apostrophes's are a b-tch, but comma's are my achilles heel. I'll have to check out this book.

I never thought of apostrophes as a a struggle. I just ask myself, "is this possessive?" and the answer makes itself known. I'll have to check out those blogs your mentioned.

I gave you a Shout-Out on my blog today! :)

Ah, the dreaded apostrophe! I think I have a decent handle on them, but the plural possessives and the placement of an apostrophe in a name that ends with an "s"... those always throw me for a loop.

I love this cartoon and it's something that I get frustrated with. I will look up the links you've provide and maybe help myself a little. Thanks Glynis.

Elizabeth, you are soooo right! LOL. Comma Queen is what my previous mentor once named me.

David, I am going to use that method, thanks for the tip. Oh, I will have to venture over and have a look, thanks!

Susan, they are the ones that throw me too! Hate the little divas or is that diva's...see I am off again. LOL

Rebecca, I thought it amusing. I hope you find something of use. You are welcome.

Thank you all for taking time out for me today. x

Grammar is really quite logical once you understand it. I'm still working on it.

Thank you so much for mentioning my blog. I am in the middle of revising the apostrophes chapter for my book. Trust me; you are not the only one who struggles with them.

Richard, at times something sinks in, then an apostrophe...sorry a catastrophe occurs and I forget! ;0

Dawn, I think I might print it off to keep me focused.

Missed P, you are welcome. Get that book finished! :D...please.

Thanks for your lovely comments and for taking time out to visit. x

I've taught grammar, and have never had any trouble with it, including the apostrophe, which makes it difficult for me sometimes in a world filled with ads where so many people seem now to know how to use it correctly! But as I tell my son, you have great ideas so just get them down and then let someone go over the mechanics for you. So just write your great stuff Glynis, and then I or someone else can fix the "little" stuff!!
